Bio-degradable and/or compostable

In the past, some growers were using compostable twine. Most of the time it was produced from the natural fibre jute. A disadvantage of this material is that it decomposes to fast when growers want to extend the duration of their crop or growing heavier tomatoes and peppers. Another type of compostable yarns can be produced from the fibre viscose. This is produced out of cellulose, an artificial vegetable yarn from soft wood. Viscose yarns are decomposing just like jute yarn and it also looses strength when it becomes wet. It absorbs liquid and  it will even shrink till
10 % or more!  Be aware that by the decomposing process the breaking strength will decrease substantial during the cultivation.

Because there are still growers that have a shorter duration of crop or have other reasons to aks for bio- degradable and/or compostable products we still supply a range of products.

These are:

PRIMA® (Jute)
VERTOMA® (Jute)
VERTOMIL® (Viscose/Jute)
ECOLIN® (Viscose/Cotton)
